Injury Prevention Workshop for Female Athletes

By September 19, 2023 No Comments

Last week Girls Unite hosted an injury prevention workshop for our young female athletes. We were privileged to have UCSF orthopedic physical therapist, Nina Freitas, PT, DPT, OCS, come out to speak and lead this event. With years of experience and expertise in her field, Nina is passionate about ensuring athletes stay healthy, thrive, and reach their full potential.

The workshop offered our female soccer players and their families invaluable insights into injuries and effective preventive measures. Nina’s presentation covered injury mechanics and risk factors, emphasizing the importance of prevention. She highlighted proactive measures to ensure players stay healthy and prolong their athletic careers.  She then engaged the participants in hands-on demonstrations of exercises and warm-up activities. Proper technique was emphasized, ensuring the exercises were effective and safe.

As we move forward, Girls Unite will continue to provide opportunities for education, skill development, and personal growth for our players. We believe that informed and prepared athletes are more likely to succeed. We’re immensely grateful to Nina Freitas for sharing her expertise.
