Programs

Girls Unite (formerly Bay Area Girls Unite – BAGU) engages a wide spectrum of youth across different levels of play. We field teams in travel leagues such as CalNorth as well as San Francisco-based leagues like Prep, Recreation, Winter Futsal and Microsoccer.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

  • Shin guards
  • Soccer ball (age-appropriate)
  • Uniform kits (jerseys, shorts, socks) via www.soccer.com

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN IS EACH SEASON?
  • FALL: September – November
  • WINTER: December – February (Optional for all)
  • SPRING: March – May (Optional for Rec players | Included for Travel & Prep players)
  • SUMMER CAMPS: May – August (Optional for Rec players | One week required for Travel & Prep players)
WHAT DAY/TIME/LOCATION DOES MY TEAM PRACTICE?
  • Girls Unite requests fields from San Francisco Recreation & Park (SFRP) in proximity to schools players attend.
  • Practice schedules are based on family polls to find the best THREE days & times that work for most.
  • SFRP assigns fields approximately ONE month prior to each season.  We appreciate your patience & understanding with this process.
  • All practice & game details will be listed on TeamSnap — the sports team management & communication tool used by Girls Unite to share essential details with families & players.
ARE ADDITIONAL PRACTICES AVAILABLE?
  • If your child cannot attend their team practice, they can practice with another Girls Unite team in their age-group.
  • If your child would like to attend practices above those required, they can register for additional practice sessions.
  • To make arrangements for either scenario, please contact Girls Unite staff.
HOW MANY COACHES ARE ON EACH TEAM?
  • One head coach and one assistant coach are assigned to each team.
  • A Goal-Keeper Trainer is available to all goal-keepers.
ANY SPECIALIZED TRAINERS ON STAFF?

Girls Unite offers talented women coaches on staff who incorporate specialized training for players at no extra cost, including:

  • Running Specialist
  • Strength & Conditioning Trainer
  • Goal-Keeper Trainer
DOES BAGU PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PLAY?
  • Girls Unite is committed to making high-quality soccer programming available to as many girls as possible. For information about player scholarships, please contact us.
HOW DOES BAGU COMMUNICATE WITH FAMILIES & PLAYERS?
  • TeamSnap is the online communication platform Girls Unite uses to share key information among families, coaches & Girls Unite administration pertaining to team logistics (i.e. fields, times, days, important updates that impact play, etc.)
  • Monthly newsletters will be emailed to provide club-wide opportunities, highlights and special event information.
